Mesa police released a statement early Friday that two separate overnight homicides were under investigation.

There was limited information on the two deaths, but police said they know the incidents were isolated and not related, Sgt. Diana Williams, department spokeswoman, said in the statement.

Mesa police responded to a possible shooting around 8 p.m. Thursday in the area of 300 E. Eighth Drive. They found two victims, an “obviously deceased” 31-year-old male, and an injured 45-year-old female, who was treated and released, the statement said.

Police are looking for a male suspect in the case. All parties were known to each other, the statement said.

In the other incident, Mesa police answering a possible assault call at about 3:30 a.m. Friday in the area of 1400 S. Stapley Drive found a dead 19-year-old male. A possible suspect is being investigated.

Police said they would release further details.
