Two people were shot Tuesday in a neighborhood near downtown Chandler and another person is in custody, police said.

The shooting occurredabout 2:30 p.m., in an area northeast of Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard, Chandler police said.

Police responded to a call of shots fired in an area near Erie and Colorado streets, police said.

Officers found two people wounded at the location, police said.

The victims were taken to a hospital, but their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, said Detective Seth Tyler, a Chandler Police Department spokesman.

Tyler said it appears the people involved knew each other. He said a person was arrested later Tuesday afternoon.

No additional information about the person arrested or what may have led to the shooting was immediately available.
