Two people died and another seven were injured Thursday afternoon after a crash in Phoenix involving four vehicles and a Valley Metro bus, according to Phoenix police. 

Officers just before 4 p.m. responded to the intersection of Seventh and Missouri avenues where four vehicles and a Valley Metro bus were involved in a crash, said Phoenix police spokesperson Sgt. Ann Justus. 

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene, Justus said. Their identities were not released by police as of Thursday afternoon. 

Another seven people were taken to a hospital, including one person who was in extremely critical condition, Justus said 

No one on the Valley Metro bus at the time of the crash reported serious injuries, Justus said. 

Officials at the scene were working to determine how the crash occurred and its primary cause, according to Justus. 

Seventh and Missouri avenues surrounding the crash were closed on Thursday afternoon, Justus said.
