A 1-year-old girl was in extremely critical condition Saturday after she was found underwater in a swimming pool in Phoenix.
Phoenix fire personnel responded to a call of a drowning around 2:00 p.m. at a home near 99th Avenue and Indian School Road, according to Scott Douglas, a spokesperson for the Phoenix Fire Department.
Bystanders were already doing CPR on the child when firefighters arrived on scene, Douglas said.
Emergency personnel quickly assessed the child and began advanced life resuscitation efforts. She was then rushed to the hospital where she remained in critical condition, Douglas said.
A crisis response team was assisting the family with any of their needs, Douglas said.
