One woman was killed and another was critically injured during an overnight shooting in west Phoenix, according to the Phoenix Police Department.

Sgt. Vince Lewis, a Phoenix police spokesman, said the shooting suspect is known but remained outstanding Wednesday morning.

The shooting happened in the area of 9800 West Horse Thief Pass, near 99th Avenue and Lower Buckeye Road.

Lewis said the shooter had been in a relationship with one of the women and forced his way into the home just after 12:30 a.m.

One of the women died from her injuries and the other remained in extremely critical condition. Three children inside the home at the time of the shooting were unharmed.

Lewis said the women were family members.

Officers previously responded to multiple reports of domestic violence at the home, Lewis said. Neighbors said they saw police vehicles outside the house on Sunday, but Lewis could not immediately say why officers had been called there.
