One person was killed after a semitruck loaded with lumber rolled over on State Route 87 north of Mesa on Tuesday evening, officials said.

Ambulance crews also transported a pediatric trauma patient, two adults who needed immediate care and another person, Rural/Fire Metro spokesman Shawn Gilleland said.

One other person refused transport, Gilleland said.

The Arizona Department of Transportation said the northbound lanes were closed at Gilbert Road and the southbound lanes were closed at Shea Boulevard.

ADOT said it likely would be “an extended closure.”

No further details were immediately available.
