A woman was stabbed and killed during a domestic violence incident in Laveen Sunday morning, authorities said. 

At about 11 a.m., police responded reports of a family fighting at a home near 43rd Avenue and Baseline Road, said Sgt. Alan Pfohl, a Phoenix police spokesman. 

Upon arrival, a victim was found stabbed and was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died from her injuries, he said. 

The suspect, Pfohl said, was taken into custody.

No other details were immediately available.

Updates were expected Sunday afternoon, police said.
