A 19-year-old woman pushing a disabled car on Broadway Road in Phoenix was struck late Friday by another car and killed, police said.
Witnesses reported that three people were pushing a disabled Chevrolet Malibu around 11 p.m. eastbound in the 3100-block area of East Broadway Road when it was rear-ended by a Honda, Phoenix police said in a statement Saturday.
Two people were able to get out of the way, witnesses said, but the woman was struck. The woman, identified as Klara C. Melvin, 19, was taken to a hospital where she later died, police said.
The other two people were not injured. The driver of the Honda remained at the accident, police said, adding that impairment was believed to not be a factor.
