Wind, dust and rainfall were confined to areas on the outskirts of metropolitan Phoenix on Thursday night, with the west and northeast edges of the Valley seeing some measurable rains.

The National Weather Service issued a dust storm advisory in Pinal County until 7:45 p.m. after Department of Transportation Services tweeted out a report of dust on Interstate 10 south of the Valley with 100 yards of visibility.

By early Thursday evening the storms moved northwest and away from the Valley, the National Weather Service said.

Wintersburg, west of Phoenix, had 1.02 inches of rainfall. Areas around Tonapah had 0.83 inches of rain, the Flood Control District of Maricopa County reported. Lesser amounts west of the Sun Cities and north of Carefree.

The weather service said the Phoenix area was likely to remain calm for the rest of Thursday night.

Heavier rainfall was seen in areas along Interstate 8 near Yuma, where small stream and flood advisories were issued.
