The girls outdoor track and field postseason begins on Wednesday and continues  Friday and Saturday at Mesa Community College.

There are several teammates on this list, including the dominance of Chandler in the relay events and the locomotive speed from a pair from North Canyon’s Jadyn Mays and Dominique Mustin in the sprints.

There are multiple defending state champions looking to repeat their titles and set new state records. 

Here are the state’s top performers to look out for in the state tournament. The rankings and times listed are among all four state divisions. 

Sprints (100m, 200m, 400m)

Ma’kayla Dickerson, Maryvale

Dickerson is no lower than the state’s top six in the 100-meter dash, 200, 400, 100-meter hurdles and 300-meter hurdles. Her personal record of 55.92 won the 400 at ASU Sun Angel Classic. She also set the state record in the 300 meter hurdles in 2018 with her 41.72 time and holds this year’s fastest time (41.97) from her run at the Chandler Rotary. 

Jadyn Mays, North Canyon

Mays is one of the state’s best sprinter ever. She holds the top ranking among all runners this year in the 100, 200, and 400, nipping at the state record with her respective personal records of 11.76 seconds (SR: 11.31 set in 2003), 23.99 (SR: 23.37 set in 2013) at Chandler Rotary and 55.37 at the Mountain Ridge Invitational.

Mawata Lucky Denaih, Maryvale

Has the seventh and sixth spots among the state’s runners in 100 and 400 with personals records of 12.21 and 56.01 at the Chandler Rotary, respectively. She also came in second with a 56.18 time in the 400 behind her teammate Ma’Kayla Dickerson at the ASU Sun Angel Classic.

Dominique Mustin, North Canyon

Dominant middle distance runner who broke the 800 state record (2:07.06) from 2016 previously held by Chandler’s Morgan Foster when she clocked in at 2:06.01 at Arcadia Invitational. Mustin is also second behind her teammate Jadyn May in the 400  (55.41). She is also a runner in North Canyon’s top-ranked 4×100 meter relay team with Jadyn Mays. 

Trinity Henderson, Chandler

Henderson has this season’s third, second, and fifth spots in the state for her personal records of 12.08 in the 100 meter dash, 24.33 in the 200, and 55.97 in the 400. 

Jocelyn Johnson, Chandler

Johnson is among the four top-ranked speedsters with Armani Harris, Trinity Henderson and Morgan Foster on Chandler’s 4×400 relay team. She has individual rankings of No. 4 and No. 6 in the 100 (12.16) and 200 (24.73) this season. 

Morgan Foster, Chandler

Foster marked a new personal record of in the 2:06.13 at Brophy Prep AMDG Invitational, which broke her previously held state record of 2:07.06 in 2016. That mark is now only second in the state this year behind Dominique Mustin. Foster also gained the No. 1 ranking in the 1,600 at Chandler Rotary with her 4:47.03 time. 

Hurdles (100m, 300m)

Rahni Turner, Westwood

Turner has the state’s third fastest time in the 100 hurdles (14.10) and eighth fastest in the 300 hurdles (45.00). She won the 100 hurdles, earned second place in the 300 hurdles, and was atop of the podium for winning the long jump event at 5 feet 2 inches in the Hohokam Invitational

Lia Hendricks and Kianna Kai, Campo Verde 

Ranked seventh in the state for her personal records in the 100 meter hurdles (14.58) and tied for second place (42.80) with her teammate Kiana Kai in the 300 meter hurdles when they impressively finished simultaneously at Desert Vista High School Last Chance Meet. Kai also has the fifth-highest time (14.41) in the state’s this year in the 100 meter hurdles event. 

Myreanna Bebe, Queen Creek

Defending state champion and Louisiana Tech commit who is favored to repeat her title in the 100 hurdles. Bebe regained the state’s best time of 13.81 at Chandler Rotary. She is also tied for the state’s best long jump mark at 18-6 that she mark at the Ron Smith Classic. 

Sarah Markse, Mesa Mountain View

Holds the No. 4 spot in the top ten for the state’s best hurdling in the 100 and 300 with her personal record times of 14.32 and 44.18, respectively. 

Distance (800m, 1600m, 3200m)

Abi Archer, Chaparral

She is the 2018 defending state cross-country champion, who has endless stamina among her competitors on the track in the 1,600 meter run and 3,200. Her personal record of 10:21.21 set at Arcadia is No. 1 in the state this year and has the state’s fourth-highest time of 5:01.04 from Hohokam Invitational.

Caroline McCleskey, Highland

Had great finishes at Chandler Rotary, Desert Vista High School Last Chance Meet and Arcadia in the 800, 1,600 and 3,200, respectively. She set personal records in all three events that rank sixth, third, and second in the state. 

Niki Hemmerlin, Red Mountain

Won the 800 at Hohokam (2:17.80) and ran a personal record of 5:04.12 in the 1,600 to finish in first place at Chandler Rotary. Those times put her at the seventh and sixth rankings among all of the state’s runners. 

Samantha Schadler, Rio Rico

Holds the third and second rankings in the 800 and 1,600 in the state this year with her personal records of 2:12.85 and 4:53.86 that she respectively set at the Mt. SAC Relays and Chandler Rotary meets.

Jumps

Cierra Tidwell, Highland

Holds the state’s high jump best high jump clearance at 5-10 that got her in first place at Chandler Rotary. She also has the fifth-best long jump mark at 18 feet, which is her personal record she set at Hohokam. 

Rylee Perkins, Centennial

Third-ranked among all long and high jumpers in the state. She won the long jump at Hohokam with a 18-4 landing mark and was first place in the triple jump (at the Rattler Booster Invite 38-2 1/2, which are both personal records. 

Jessie Boult, Red Mountain

This season’s best long jumper with Myreanna Bebe of Queen Creek at 18-6 that Boult set at the Red Mountain Rampage meet. 

Kenashalee Kerr, Queen Creek

Ranked fourth in the long jump (18-2) and second in the triple jump (38-4) across all four divisions. 

Kenya Coburn, Tempe

Top-ranked high jumper who has state’s highest mark at 38-5 from her victory at the Sun Angel Classic. 

Throws

Ciera Johnson, Chandler

Johnson is respectively ranked first and second in the state for the discus throw (143 feet) and shot put (42-8 1/2). She won the discus throw at the Aztec Invite (141-5) and shot put (41-5) at Hohokam. 

Kiara Anderson, Dysart

Her season-best in the shot put is 38-2 that is ranked ninth in the state and 39-6 3/4 is Anderson’s personal record. She was the Division II State runner-up 2017 and 2018 in the event and currently has the state’s fifth ranking at 130-6 in the discus.

Alaina Diggs, Millennium

Defending Division I state champion who has the state’s best shot put mark this season at 43-9 that made her win at Chandler Rotary. She came in third at Hohokam with her 40-9 mark and has the state’s seventh-best discus mark (128-1) that she got at the Willie Williams Classic. 

Makayla Hunter, Chandler

Hunter trails her teammate Ciera Johnson as the second and third-best in the state for her season-beat discus throw (137-6) and personal record shot put (41-1) marks. She is also the best javelin thrower with a top-ranked 133-6 mark which put her in first place at the ASU Sun Angel Classic.

Makiya Moore, Queen Creek

Moore is third and fifth in the state for her personal records of 136-7 in the discus throw and 39-7 in the shot put events.

Chloe Fraley, Valley Christian

Fraley trails Moore by a mere 5 inches to be the state’s second-best mark at 133-1 in the in the javelin event.

Pole Vault

Eden Henderson, Chaparral

Defending Division II state champion holding the state’s third-best clearance this season with her personal record of 12 feet 10 inches at the Scottsdale District Meet. She won Hohokam with a 12-8 clearance.

Sevanna Hanson, Desert Vista

Defending Division I state champion who has this year’s second-highest clearance in the state at 13-2 which she set at the Desert Vista High School Last Chance Meet. 

Taylor Starkey, Casteel

Starkey has the state highest clearance (13- 3 3/4) that she jumped at the Beach Invitational in California. She also pole vaulted 13-1 3/4  to win the ASU Sun Angel Classic. She pole vaulted 13-2 1/2 in the indoor season and has barely missed clearing the state record in three different meets this year.
