The 2017 NHL draft lottery will be must-see TV for some NHL franchises.
That includes the Arizona Coyotes.
The Coyotes, who currently have the second fewest points in the league, are in line for a very high pick.

With that lottery coming up (the NHL has not announced a date for it), the Heat Index decided to take a look at Arizona’s (as well as other teams’) odds at getting the No. 1 overall pick in the June 23-24 NHL draft (odds through March 28 games).

The Avalanche (43 points) currently have the fewest points in the NHL. They have a 17.9 percent chance at the No. 1 overall pick, a 15.9 percent chance at No. 2, a 14 percent chance at No. 3 and a 51.7 percent chance at No. 4.
The Coyotes (63 points) have a 12.1 percent chance of landing the top pick in the lottery, an 11.7 percent chance at No. 2, a 11.3 percent chance at No. 3, a 33.8 percent chance at No. 4 and a 30.5 percent chance at No. 5.
The NHL has announced that the expansion Vegas Golden Knights will receive the same odds as the No. 3 team in the lottery.
That team, right now, is the Devils, who currently sit at 68 points, so both Las Vegas and New Jersey will have a 10.3 percent chance at the top pick, a 10.2 percent chance at the No. 2 pick and a 10.1 percent chance at the No. 3 pick.
Vegas also currently has an 11.8 percent chance at the No. 4 pick, a 39 percent chance at the No. 5 pick and an 18 percent chance at the No. 6 pick.
New Jersey also currently has a 2.1 percent chance at the No. 4 pick, a 22.7 percent chance at the No. 5 pick, a 34.4 percent chance at the No. 6 pick and a 9.7 percent chance at the No. 7 pick.
The Canucks, with the fourth-fewest points in the NHL (69), round out the Top 5.
They have an 8.5 percent chance at No. 1, an 8.6 percent chance at No. 2, an 8.7 percent chance at No. 3, a 7.1 percent chance at No. 5, a 32.8 percent chance at No. 6, a 28.5 percent chance at No. 7 and a 5.2 percent chance at No. 8.

10 other teams are currently in the NHL draft lottery (based on records entering March 29).
Their odds for the No. 1 overall pick (and most likely pick):
The Stars (73 points) currently have a 7.6 percent chance at No. 1 and a 38 percent chance at No. 7.
The Red Wings (74 points) have a 6.7 percent chance of landing the No. 1 pick. Detroit has an 39.4 percent chance of getting No. 8.
The Sabres (76 points) have a 5.8 percent chance at the No. 1 selection. They have a 37.7 percent chance at No. 9.
The Jets (77 points) have a 5.4 percent chance at No. 1 and a 44.4 percent chance at No. 9.
The Panthers (77 points) have a 4.5 percent chance of getting the No. 1 pick and a 56.2 percent chance of landing the No. 10 pick.
The Kings (77 points) have a 3.1 percent chance of landing the top pick and a 67.4 percent chance of getting the No. 11 pick.
The Flyers, Hurricanes, Islanders and Lightning round out the teams in the NHL draft lottery.
Philadelphia (80 points) has a 2.7 percent chance at the top pick and a 75.9 percent chance at No. 12.
Carolina (82 points) has a 2.2 percent chance at No. 1 and a 83.8 percent percent chance at No. 13.
New York (82 points) has a 1.8 percent chance at No. 1 and a 90.6 percent chance at No. 14.
Tampa Bay (83 points) has a 0.9 percent chance at the No. 1 selection and a 96.4 percent chance at No. 15.
