With the NHL season heading down the home stretch, we decided to take a look at where the Arizona Coyotes stand in recent power rankings of the league.

Not surprisingly, the Coyotes, who have the second fewest points in the league (61), are near the bottom of most writers’ rankings.

PREVIOUS RANKINGS: Do you believe in the Coyotes?

Most have Arizona ranked No. 29 in the NHL.

What they’re saying about the team now:

Mike Harrington writes: “Stinkier: Just 10-20-4 on road and open five-game trip Monday in Nashville.”

CBS Sports: Coyotes still No. 29

Cody Benjamin writes: “They may very well lower the bar for away-game records as they embark on a five-game trip.”

RANKINGS: Pro athletes with longest tenure in Arizona

J.J. Regan writes: “Mike Smith set a franchise record with his 22nd shutout as a Coyote.”

It writes: “The Arizona Coyotes are at No. 29 but made some movement and weren’t a lock in the bottom two as they have been in the past.”

Mike Zeisberger writes: “Tippett must be held accountable.”

NHL MOCK DRAFTS: Latest picks for Coyotes

March 14 power rankings:

CBS Sports: Coyotes still No. 29

Cody Benjamin writes: “Here comes talk of the franchise’s future and its ideal location. Translation: The Coyotes are certainly not warranting our attention on the ice.”

J.J. Regan writes: “A strongly worded letter from Gary Bettman to the Arizona legislature has rekindled the tired debate over what to do with the Coyotes.”

ESPN.com: Coyotes still No. 29

Joe McDonald writes: “John Chayka’s first season as the youngest GM in NHL history is coming to a close and I’m sure he learned a lot that he will build on moving forward. He’s smart and savvy, and the Coyotes have a bright future. It would be a huge step forward for Arizona if it signs prospect Clayton Keller, 18, out of Boston University after the college hockey season is over.”

Mike Harrington writes: “Stinkier: War of words erupts again between Bettman and Glendale politicos.”
