An airplane with a landing gear failure landed safely on its belly in Mesa on Sunday.

Fire and medical airport crews responded to a report of a plane experiencing hydraulic failure with the landing gear, according to Mike Castillo, Mesa Fire and Medical Department captain.

The plane was a privately owned North American T-6 military-style aircraft and had two passengers on board at the time of the incident.

Tower operators instructed the passengers to fly around to burn fuel before attempting landing, Castillo said.

A video from Castillo shows it landing safely at the Mesa airport. Both passengers exited safely without injuries.
