A man was charged on suspicion of murder, after police found a man with gunshot wounds in the area of 27th Avenue and Northern Avenue around 2 p.m. on Friday, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
The victim, 49-year-old Marcus Colvin, died at the hospital, police said.
Police said Colvin was confronted by Victor Vargas, 22, who was with an unidentified woman. Vargas shot Colvin and fled the scene prior to police arrival. The woman was not injured, according to Phoenix police.
Phoenix police identified a suspect early in the investigation, and located Vargas at a residence.
As officers located him Vargas got into a car and officers from the Special Assignment Unit followed the car into the Quartzsite area, where the car stopped, according to police.
Vargas was taken into custody and later booked at the La Paz County Jail for murder.
