The U.S. 60 in Mesa reopened around 11:30 p.m. after being closed to traffic for several hours Thursday night because of a police situation.

The Arizona Department of Public Safety was on the scene. DPS officials said that troopers “are out with a subject on the freeway” and that no other information was available.

The westbound lanes closed to traffic at Gilbert Road shortly after 8 p.m., the Arizona Department of Transportation said. The eastbound lanes also were closed at Stapley Drive, ADOT said.

Additional details were not available.
