A man suspected of fatally shooting one man and injuring another Monday in Tucson later checked himself into a hospital with injuries, authorities said.

Pima County sheriff’s deputies responded to the shooting on the city’s north sideĀ at about 4 p.m. Monday, said Deputy Ryan Inglett, a department spokesman.

Deputies found Jaisaac Sloan, 21, and Austin Buckshaw, 20, with gunshot wounds, Inglett said. Deputies gave aid to the men, but Sloan was pronounced dead at the scene. Buckshaw, who was seriously injured, was taken to Banner-University Medical Center Tucson.

The victims were in a camper trailer with other people when the shooting took place, deputies said. The suspect, who had not been identified, pulled a gun from his backpack and began to fire, Inglett said.

Inglett said the shooter was injured in the encounter, but did not say how. His condition was not immediately known.
