The Phoenix Suns aren’t done working what they hope will be a championship roster.

The Milwaukee Bucks have traded forward Torrey Craig to the Suns for cash considerations, The Republic confirmed Wednesday evening.

A solid role player during his stint in Denver, Craig fills Phoenix’s final roster spot.

The Bucks also traded D.J. Wilson and D.J. Augustin to Houston for P.J. Tucker and Rodions Kurucs. Houston will also get Milwaukee’s 2021 and 2023 first-round draft picks while the Bucks receive the Rockets’ 2022 first-round pick.

The NBA trade deadline is March 25.

In Craig, Phoenix (26-12) is getting a 6-7, 221-pound wing known for his defense. His size and athleticism can help the Suns put another defender on the likes of All-Stars LeBron James (Los Angeles Lakers) and Kawhi Leonard (Los Angeles Clippers), two players they’ll have to face two more times this season.

Phoenix concludes its five-game homestand Sunday against the defending NBA champion Lakers (27-13).

The 30-year-old Craig didn’t pan out in Milwaukee as he averaged career lows in points (2.5 per game) and field goal percentage (39.1%). Playing just 18 games for the Bucks, Craig suffered a fractured nose in Milwaukee’s third game of the season Dec. 27.

Craig didn’t play again until Jan. 24 against Atlanta.

Last season, Craig averaged 5.4 points on a career-best 46.1% shooting from the field for the Nuggets. Starting 27 games during the 2019-20 regular season, Craig played a role in Denver’s improbable playoff run to the Western Conference finals in the bubble as he started three postseason games.

The Nuggets came back from 3-1 deficits against the Utah Jazz and the Clippers before falling to the Lakers in five games.

The Suns have been without Cam Johnson as the second-year wing has missed Phoenix’s last four games under the NBA’s health and safety protocols with the first game coming before the All-Star break against Golden State.

Averaging 10.4 points a game and shooting 37.8% from 3, Johnson is listed out for Thursday’s game against Minnesota in the first of home back-to-back versus the Timberwolves (9-31).
