The Arizona State Sun Devils already knew who five of their seven opponents for 2020 would be. Now they know one of the others as well as in what order they will get those foes.
This morning the Pac-12 unveiled schedules for the delayed season which will begin in six weeks and the Arizona State Sun Devils are kicking off the new campaign on Nov. 7 against USC at Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum at 10 a.m.
The game will be televised nationally on Fox.
“When you’re old like us you like getting up early,” ASU coach Herm Edwards said, on the Fox pre-game show. “It’s the players. They’re saying, ‘All you guys are going to do is stand on the sidelines. We’re the ones that have to play.’ “
Last season USC defeated ASU in Tempe 31-26 in a game in which USC jumped out to a 28-7 lead and Sun Devils quarterback Jayden Daniels was out with a knee injury and Desert Mountain product Kedon Slovis excelled for USC.

ASU is 13-23 all-time against USC, the most recent win coming in 2018 when the Sun Devils chalked up a 38-35 win at the Coliseum, which snapped a 20-game USC win streak under Clay Helton in their home venue.
The Sun Devils are coming off an 8-5 showing in 2019, with that season ending with a 20-14 victory over Florida State in the Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas.
USC also finished 8-5, capped off by a 49-24 loss to Iowa in the Holiday Bowl.
It is quite a way to start the season with USC the pick to win the South by most preseason college football publications and the Sun Devils pegged second right behind the Trojans.

Helton is excited about the matchup.
“As coaches and players we’re just grateful for the opportunity to play a game,” Helton said. “Two national profile quarterbacks going on display at a time the whole nation is going to be watching across the board. So we’re excited. You want to be on the brightest lights on the brightest stage.”
The seven-game schedule has each team playing the other five schools in their division which means Arizona State gets the normal South division foes in USC, UCLA, Colorado, Utah and rival Arizona. The Sun Devils have UCLA and Utah at home, with the other three games on the road.
Each also has a crossover game against a team in the other division and ASU will get California at home on Nov. 14.
The seventh opponent will not be known until the last week of the season. The two teams that win the South and the North will square off in the conference title game on Dec. 18. Other teams will also play that weekend in a crossover game with the second-place team in the South facing the second in the North and so on.
Edwards is ready to go.
“We’ve been off for almost seven months,” he said. “There were times going through this process of trying to figure out when we were going to play, I think the players in our conference and coaches as well are just excited about the opportunity. Playing a team like USC our first game, a national school as far as branding. USC has always that brand that has great players. Our whole conference is just excited about playing football again.”
Other first week games are Arizona at Utah, Cal at Washington, Colorado at UCLA, Oregon at Stanford and Oregon State at Washington State.
There was a lot of debate as to which South team would get Oregon in the crossover game because the Ducks are a heavy favorite in the North. It will be UCLA getting the Ducks.
