Sully Erna of Godsmack and Aaron Lewis of Staind will bring a co-headlining unplugged drive-in tour to Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Friday, Oct. 30.

The singers will perform their hits together, side-by-side, on the multi-city American Drive-In Tour.

A lot of artists have been screening virtual concerts they’ve filmed in advance to show at outdoor venues, including recent Arizona screenings by Garth Brooks, Blake Shelton and Metallica, as the touring industry continues to respond to COVID-19.

The American Drive-In Tour is among the first live drive-in tours bringing artists to multiple cities.

Tickets go on sale at noon Tuesday, Sept. 15, at aaronandsully.com.

Ema and Lewis have been friends for years

In a press release, Erna said, “Me and Aaron Lewis? Onstage together … acoustic? Do I need to say more? Just don’t miss it! It may never happen again.”

The two have been friends for 25 years.

In that same press release, Lewis said, “We’ve been talking about doing something for the last 10 years. The time has finally come. I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this to you in such strange times.”

In addition to the hits fans would expect, the singers plan to share cover songs and conversation.

Tour taking COVID-19 precautions

Tour producers Danny Wimmer Presents have worked closely with both artists and all venues to create a live concert environment that will bring rock fans back together while promoting social distancing for a safe experience.

The nationwide tour will follow the current local health guidelines for fans’ safety and enjoyment.

Some shows, including Arizona, will be drive-in events with patrons in or adjacent to their cars with a cap of four people per vehicle.

Other shows will feature viewing from socially distanced fan “pods” or tables designed for up to four people.

More dates will be announced in the coming weeks.
