8. Wildlife World Zoo & Aquarium: One of the largest privately owned zoos in the country, Wildlife World has been operated by director Mickey Ollsen and his family since 1984. The name of this zoo’s game in the summer? “Shade,” Ollsen says. Eighty-foot trees tower over many of the zoo’s outdoor exhibits, and there are more than 45,000 square feet of indoor exhibits, more than any other wildlife attraction in the state.
