U.S. Customs and Border Protection said agents have made seven arrests in several incidents in Arizona since Tuesday, all involving smuggling methamphetamine.

Two arrests were made after agents performed secondary inspections on two different shuttle vans at the Interstate 19 immigration checkpoint on Tuesday.

One involved a 16-year-old boy found with half a pound of methamphetamine on his body, the other involved a 39-year-old woman with almost a pound of the drug on her, officials said.

Both the boy and the woman are U.S citizens. He was turned over to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office; she faces federal charges for drug smuggling, officials said.

On Wednesday, Customs and Border Protection agents at Arizona’s Port of Nogales arrested a Mexican woman who tried to smuggle heroin and methamphetamine into Arizona, officials said.

Customs and Border Protection said the drugs were found after a narcotics canine detected a scent in the center console of the woman’s vehicle. Officers removed more than 11 pounds of heroin, valued at more than $298,000, and more than 17 pounds of methamphetamine, valued at more than $52,000 from the car, according to a statement.

Agents arrested the woman and turned her over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, officials said.

Early Thursday morning, Blythe Station Border Patrol agents arrested three U.S. citizens and one undocumented immigrant from Mexico after they were found with 22 pounds of methamphetamine and a stolen gun, officials said.

Agents found the drugs and gun during a traffic stop at the Highway 95 immigration checkpoint near Yuma. The drugs have an estimated street value of $66,600, Customs and Border Protection said.

Officials said all four were arrested on suspicion of transporting a controlled substance.

Customs and Border Protection officials encourage the public to report suspicious activity by calling 1-877-872-7435 toll-free.
