An armed man walking away from a car on fire stole another driver’s vehicle at gunpoint as police approached Thursday morning in Glendale, officials say.

The carjacker was last seen driving a white Chevy Prism sedan with Arizona plate BHH1810, according to Glendale police. The car has rear taillight damage.

Police say a witness reported seeing a man with a gun holstered on his hip and carrying a blue duffel bag as he walked away from a car on fire near 63rd and Orangewood avenues just before 7:20 a.m.

Officers tried to stop the man, but he stole the Chevy driver’s vehicle at gunpoint and fled, according to a Glendale police statement.

Police are asking the public to not to approach the vehicle and, if they see it, call 911.

The carjacker is described as a Hispanic man, approximately 25 years old, 5 feet 5 inches, 130 pounds. He wore a black hat, gray shirt, blue jeans and had multiple tattoos on his chest.
