Scottsdale police are asking the public for help locating 37-year-old Charles Haeger, who is suspected of shooting and killing his ex-girlfriend.
Scottsdale police responded to a call about the sound of gunfire on Friday and arrived at a residence near North Hayden Road and East McCormick Parkway around 6:50 p.m.
A roommate of the woman who was killed, reportedly returned to his home and heard shots coming from the victim’s room, police said. Moments later, he saw Haeger come out of the room holding a handgun. Haeger then pointed the gun on the roommate, according to police, but the roommate was able to get away and call 911.
The Scottsdale Police SWAT team was on the scene, and barricades were used in an attempt to stop the suspect from fleeing, but Haeger managed to evade police.
Haeger is described by police as a 6-foot-1-inch, white male of medium build, with short brown hair, last seen in a dark-colored shirt. He may be driving a gray 2020 Plymouth Voyager, and “should be considered armed and dangerous,” police said.
Police are asking anyone with information related to Haeger’s whereabouts to call 911.
