John Daly’s first PGA Tour Champions title didn’t go unnoticed by the White House.

President Trump congratulated the quirky 51-year-old golfer for his 1-stroke victory at the Insperity Invitational on Sunday in Texas via Twitter. Daly hadn’t won since 2004.

“John is a great guy who never gave up — and now a winner again,” Trump wrote on the social media network on Monday.

Daly appeared to appreciate the gesture:

As Daly shot a 3-under 69 to finish at 14-under 202 and edge Kenny Perry, Trump spent the weekend at his Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster, N.J. Another of Trump’s courses, Trump National in Sterling, Va., hosts the  Senior PGA Championship later this month.

This wasn’t the first time Trump has congratulated a pro golfer for a victory. He used his personal Twitter account to commend Dustin Johnson for his U.S. Open win last June, and Zach Johnson for his British Open victory in 2015, among others.
