A man was shot and killed after a fight broke out on Tuesday night at a north Phoenix apartment complex, and police are searching for the shooter, according to police officials.
The shooting happened at about 8 p.m. just south of 19th Avenue and Cactus Road, according to Sgt. Mercedes Fortune, a Phoenix Police Department spokesperson.
Witnesses reported to police that they had seen two people fighting before one shot the other.
The victim, identified at 64-year-old Ronald Van, was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, Fortune said.
The suspect fled the location before police arrived and was still not identified as of Wednesday morning. No description of the suspect was released.
