A police officer and a suspect were rushed to hospitals after a shooting in Tempe on Tuesday morning, according to a department spokeswoman.

The officer’s injuries were not life-threatening, police said. The suspect’s condition was not immediately available.

The shooting occurred on a residential street southwest of Rural Road and Alameda Drive.
