azcentral sports’ Dan Bickley and Jay Dieffenbach discuss the Diamondbacks and the Suns in our Shot Clock video.

The Phoenix Suns are stuck at the bottom of the league in many NBA pundits’ power rankings.

But not all.

The Heat Index found a ranking where the Suns are actually near the top of the league, if you are in need of something positive on Phoenix’s NBA franchise.

SI.com’s Andrew Sharp recently ranked the 10 worst teams in the league in terms of which team had the brightest future.

NBA POWER RANKINGS: Suns open second half of season with nowhere to go but up

The Suns came in at No. 4 in his rankings.

He writes: “Phoenix takes the rule from the Bulls section—always bet on the rebuilding team that’s found a genuine star—and really pushes it to the limit. Devin Booker is excellent, yes, and in a league that’s increasingly dominated by explosive perimeter scorers, Booker looks poised to crack the Lillard/Derozan/Kyrie tier of franchise-changing guards. The problem is that there’s so much to change in Phoenix. The Suns have some decent talent up and down the roster—Josh Jackson has been very solid for the past month, Dragan Bender is showing signs of life on certain nights, T.J. Warren is continuing his years-long effort to revive the art of midrange jumpers—but that’s been true for three years. When does it actually translate to winning, and how do they get there? Making matters worse, while teams like the Bulls can build confidence in the East, Phoenix is dealing with killers night after night in the West. For now, we’ll put Phoenix in fourth because they have some interesting young talent, Booker should be great, and with another top five pick coming, the Suns are due for something to go right.”

Does that give Suns fans at least a little bit of hope that #TheTimeline will be worth it?

The Suns, at 18-41 at the All-Star break, are tied with the Atlanta Hawks for the worst record in the league.

But, they could own three picks in the first round of the 2018 NBA draft (including their own very high one) and they do have the NBA 3-point champion in Devin Booker and some other nice pieces to build around.

The Lakers lead Sharp’s rankings, followed by the Bulls and Mavericks.

The Magic come in right behind the Suns.

More positives for Phoenix Suns?

azcentral sports’ Scott Bordow listed three things that went right for the Suns in his midseason recap for the team (along with what went wrong for the team).

The bright spots?

Devin Booker’s improvement, Josh Jackson’s emergence and the Elfrid Payton trade with the Orlando Magic.

Of Booker, Bordow wrote: “His talent, along with an almost Kobe Bryant-like obsession to be great, gives the Suns the foundational piece every franchise needs. Now they just have to get him some help.”

Of Jackson, Bordow wrote: “Jackson still has a tendency to play too fast and make poor decisions, but he plays with an aggressiveness the Suns need. Combine that with his ridiculous athletic ability – the comparisons to Shawn Marion aren’t far off – and you can see why some analysts predicted he’ll become the best player out of the 2017 draft.”

Of Payton, Bordow wrote: “Three games are far too small a sample size to determine whether Elfrid Payton is the team’s point guard of the future. But there’s no question that General Manager Ryan McDonough pulled off a heist in giving up only a second-round pick for Payton.”
