Phoenix police are seeking a man who allegedly punched a 10-year-old boy and stole his bike in February.

The assailant approached the boy from behind while he was riding his bike near the 5100 block of West Virginia Avenue on Feb. 24, 2017, and punched the child in the stomach, police said.

The boy fell off and the man, identified by police as 18-year-old Angel Lopez, then rode away on the bike, investigators said.

The victim’s family found the assailant on the child’s bike and confronted him, police said. He acted as if he had a handgun, and then dropped the bike and ran away before officers arrived, police said.

Lopez has a separate warrant out for his arrest, Phoenix police Sgt. James Rothschild, a Silent Witness spokesman, said.

Anyone with information about Lopez is asked to call 480-WITNESS or for Spanish 480-TESTIGO.
