Phoenix police are searching for a couple who tried to rob a Little Caesars Pizza restaurant.

A man and a woman at about 4:45 p.m. March 1 walked into the restaurant at 2434 E. Baseline Road and waited for all the customers to leave. They then walked up to the counter, as if to order. The woman demanded the money from the register, according to Phoenix police. She flashed a black handgun tucked into her waistband.

The man stood as a lookout. When the employee was unable to open the cash register, the couple fled.

Police described the woman as age 30 to 40, weighing 140 to 160 pounds, about 5 feet 5 inches, and with black hair. She was wearing a red button-up shirt and a beanie. She was armed with a black semiautomatic handgun.

Police described the man as age 30 to 40, weighing 170 to 180 pounds, about 5 feet 10 inches, and with black hair. He was wearing a brown and white flannel shirt, denim jeans and a white bandanna.

The two fled in a dark-blue van, possibly a Dodge or Chrysler, according to police.
