Fire crews rescued a 75-year-old hiker from South Mountain on Friday evening after the man fell and injured his hip, Phoenix Fire Department officials said.

Rescue teams put the hiker on a “Big Wheel” stretcher and transported him off the mountain in stable condition, fire officials said.

This was the second reported mountain rescue that Phoenix fire crews performed late in the day on Friday.

A few hours earlier, rescue crews used a helicopter to fly a 69-year-old hiker from Camelback Mountain.
