A family of four safely escaped a house fire in Tuesday morning, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.

Their pet, a Labrador retriever, was unable to escape, officials said.

The fire occurred in the attic of the Glendale home, located in the area of 36th Avenue and Campo Bello Drive.

Fire officials said they attempted to revive the dog using a Fido bag, but the dog did not survive.

No other injuries were reported, and the Phoenix Fire Crisis Response Team assisted the family after they were removed from the home.

The cause of the fire was under investigation, said Phoenix fire Capt. Reda Bigler.
