The PGA Tour announced a 10-year extension of its partnership with Waste Management on Tuesday.

The environmental services company will continue as the title sponsor of the Phoenix Open through 2030. Waste Management was first named the event’s title sponsor in 2010.

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan and Waste Management CEO Jim Fish made the announcement during a press conference at TPC Scottsdale.

The Phoenix Open has set multiple golf tournament attendance records over the years and was named PGA Tour Tournament of the Year in 2018.

“There is not a PGA tournament out there that has not sent someone and looked at every single element and facet and tried to bring that to their own market.” Monahan said. “But there is only one Waste Management Phoenix Open.”

Wednesday pro-am

Michael Phelps, former Phoenix Suns star Jason Kidd and World Series champion Anthony Rizzo headline Wednesday’s celebrity pro-am event.

There are 26 teams playing on Wednesday. Each team, expect for one, will have two professional golfers. Half of the golfers will play the first nine holes, then tag in their PGA teammates for the back nine.

Teams for the event were announced on Tuesday night.

Monday/Tuesday qualifiers

The last three spots for almost every PGA Tour event go to the Monday Qualifiers. However, Monday’s round at McCormick Ranch ended in a four-way tie between Nick Hardy, David Hearn, Max Homa and Blair Hamilton.

On Tuesday morning, Hardy bogeyed the first hole of the playoff, sending Hearn, Homa and Hamilton to the Phoenix Open.
