Peoria police have arrested a suspect in connection with an apartment complex shooting Friday night that left one person critically injured.

The department tweeted on Saturday that they have arrested Henry Hudson, 38, for aggravated assault.

Officer Brandon Sheffert, a spokesman with the Peoria Police Department, said the shooting took place around 8:30 p.m. on Friday near 85th and Peoria avenues.

Hudson and the unidentified victim were fighting when Hudson allegedly fired off several shots, police said. The victim, a 46-year-old male, was struck at least once and walked out to 85th Avenue to find help.

Hudson fled the scene, Sheffert said.

The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for critical injuries. As of Saturday, the victim was still hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.

Police believe Hudson and the victim knew each other. Sheffert said Hudson was arrested at a home in Glendale early Saturday morning.

Sheffert said he is expected to face charges for aggravated assault and weapons charges and could face more “depending on the condition of the victim,” Sheffert said. Peoria police are not seeking additional suspects.
