Buckeye police are searching for a person in connection with a report of a possible gun on campus Wednesday at Verrado High School, police officials said.
The high school was briefly on lockout Wednesday while police investigated the report. No weapons were found after interviews with students and an extensive search at Verrado, Buckeye police tweeted shortly after noon.
The lockout at Verrado was lifted, and all students were determined to be safe.
In a statement, Buckeye police said they had responded about 9:40 a.m. to Verrado, at 20050 W. Indian School Road, after students reported to school administrators that another student possibly had a gun on a school bus.
Officers and school officials placed the school on lockout. During the lockout, students and parents who were not already on campus could not access the campus, and students could not leave.
Officers searched the school, and several students were identified as possibly being involved. Those students were interviewed and searched. No weapon was found.
Investigators learned a third person on the bus may have been involved. Security camera video was reviewed, and the third person had left campus just before the lockout.
School officials do not believe the third person was a Verrado student, police said. Buckeye police continue to seek this third person.
Additional officers will remain on the Verrado campus through the end of the day.
