Multiple vehicle accidents on the Loop 202 snarled traffic this morning as officials worked to reroute vehicles and investigate the collisions near the Priest Drive exit.

It all started at about 6:30 a.m. when a car and a pickup truck collided, causing the truck to rollover before landing on its side, said Trooper Kameron Lee, spokesman for Arizona Department of Public Safety.

The male driver in the rolled truck walked away with “minor injures,” Lee said, adding the man refused medical attention.

“Troopers are working at moving all vehicles off the highways,” Lee said.

A second collision involving three vehicles happened less than five minutes after the rollover as troopers arrived on scene, according to Lee.

Less than 10 minutes after the rollover collision occurred, and less than three minutes after the second one, a third two-vehicle collision happened, Lee said.

The Loop 202 was shut down briefly to move all three accidents off to the side of the highway while officers investigated the collisions.

“The highway is closed due to the collision,” Lee said, “It will not be shut down completely at this points.”
