A truck driver crossing Cave Creek Road in north Phoenix killed a man riding a motorcycle Monday night, according to police.

Just before 6:30 p.m. Monday, an unidentified 53-year-old man driving a 2001 Ford truck stopped at a stop sign on Nisbet Road before proceeding across seven lanes on Cave Creek Road, police said.

The victim, 21-year-old Uzuri Burkes, was riding a 2006 Suzuki GX6 motorcycle southbound on Cave Creek Road when the two vehicles collided, police said.

Burkes was wearing a helmet but was fatally injured and died at the scene, according to police.

Impairment does not appear to be a factor, police said. The investigation is ongoing.
