After his performance in spring training, where can we expect to see Tebow?
USA TODAY Sports
Tim Tebow has his first multi-hit game of the spring for the New York Mets.
Tebow, batting seventh and playing right field, collected hits in his first-two at-bats on Wednesday against the Miami Marlins.
The first was an opposite-field grounder off left-hander Justin Nicolino that ate up Miami Marlins third baseman Derek Dietrich. The official scorer ruled it an infield single. The second came in the top of the fifth on a liner to center field offf right-hander Stephen Fife.
In his third at-bat with runners on first and second, Tebow successfully moved the runners over by hittling the ball to the right side of the infield.
Tebow now has three hits in his last six at-bats. For the spring, he is 3-for-14 with four strikeouts.
The former Heisman Trophy winner and NFL quarterback now has more hits as touchdown passes he threw against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the 2012 AFC wild card game.
On Monday, Tebow hit an opposite-field single off Miami Marlins right-hander Kyle Lobstein to lead off the bottom of the fifth inning. It was his first hit after an 0-for-8 start.
Tebow, who wasn’t expected to be with the team, has remained with the Mets because they are short on players because of the World Baseball Classic and split-squad games.
