Arizona State quarterback Manny Wilkins was hit on the sidelines in the latest fluke play that’s gone against the Sun Devils.

On first-and-10 from the Stanford 46 with about 8:30 to go in the second quarter, Wilkins was flushed from the pocket and he ran for the sidelines. Cardinal defensive end Jovan Swann chased Wilkins out of bounds, hit him, then landed on him.

Swann wasn’t penalized.

Wilkins was clearly hurt on the play, and lay on the sidelines for several seconds before getting up.

It looked like he may have injured his hand, but he stayed in the game, only to fumble on the next play.

This is the latest in a series of calls — or no-calls — that have gone against the Sun Devils this season.

ASU lost an opportunity to beat San Diego State when a catch was overturned that would have given the Sun Devils a chance to win or tie in the closing seconds.

Against Colorado, a defender came from the sidelines to blindside N’Keal Harry on a punt return. There was no flag on that play, even though the defender didn’t make an immediate attempt to return to the field after being blocked out of bounds.
