A man was taken to the hospital Thursday evening after being shot multiple times in the torso, the Phoenix Fire Department said.

Officials responded to a gunshot-wound call just after 9 p.m. near 91st Avenue and Buckeye Road in Phoenix.

Phoenix Fire Department spokesman Capt. Larry Subervi said a Tolleson Fire Department engine was closest to the scene and treated the man before the Phoenix Fire Department transported him to the hospital.

No further details were immediately available. 

An investigation is ongoing.
