A 22-year-old man was taken to the hospital in critical condition after police found him with a gunshot wound in a vehicle near 85th Lane and Monterey Way on Friday afternoon, according to officials.
Phoenix police, at about 3:30 p.m., responded to a report of a shooting at a parking lot of a strip mall near Thomas Road and 75th Avenue, but officers did not find the victim, according to Phoenix police spokeswoman Sgt. Mercedes Fortune.
A few minutes later, officers responded near 85th Lane and Monterey Way to a second call of a person who was shot and found the man inside a vehicle with a gunshot wound, Fortune said.
The man was taken to a hospital in “very” critical condition, according to Fortune.
Police have not identified a suspect, according to Fortune.
