A pedestrian struck and killed by a vehicle in Scottsdale on Monday night has been identified as a 92-year-old man, police said.

Raymond Elsroad was crossing 68th Street at mid-block when a black Jeep Wrangler traveling southbound fatally struck him, just after 8 p.m., Scottsdale police said.

Elsroad was crossing near Sixth Street in Scottsdale, which is several blocks north of Osborn Road, when he was struck by the Jeep Wrangler, police said.

Police said neither impairment nor speed on the driver’s part are believed to be factors in the collision.

Scottsdale Police still were investigating the death Tuesday.

A national report released earlier this month found Arizona has the highest rate of pedestrian deaths in traffic accidents in the country, based on data from 2017.
