A man was fatally stabbed after a fight with a security guard at a business on Tuesday morning in Phoenix.

Officers responded to reports of a stabbing at a business near 11th Avenue and West Jackson Street at about 7:30 a.m., according to police spokesperson Sgt. Ann Justus.

Authorities are investigating the death as a homicide.

Police said they believe that there was a fight between two men, one of them a security guard, which later escalated into the stabbing, Justus said.

The security guard was detained before police arrived, Justus said.

A man was taken to a hospital after he was found with a puncture wound, and he later died.

Detectives were on scene conducting their investigation, and the area was expected to be restricted for some time, Justus said.

Police did not release any more information about the identities of those involved.
