A driver crashed his car through a block wall and into a backyard swimming pool in north Scottsdale Monday evening, the Scottsdale Fire Department said.

The crash happened around 7 p.m. near 110th and Cholla Streets, fire officials said.

Firefighters rescued the man, whom officials said is disabled, from water before the vehicle became fully submerged in the pool, fire officials said.

The man’s name was not released and the extent of his injuries were not immediately available.

Officials did not immediately say why the man lost control of the car.
