There was an unbelievably confusing moment in the third quarter of Game 4 when Draymond Green was ejected then un-ejected.

Basically what happened was a tech was called on Green in the third and everyone thought it was his second and that he’d be ejected, but the officials claimed that a first-half tech that was called on Green was actually supposed to have been called on Steve Kerr. Thus, Green was not tossed from the game.

After the Cavs won to give the Warriors a 3-1 lead, head coaches Tyronn Lue and Kerr were asked about the bizarre moment. They were just as confused as everyone else.

Lue said he thought Green had two techs, but that “evidently” that’s not what happened, as a small smile crept over his face. Here’s the Cavs coach’s response in full:

“Mike Callahan (the official) told me that the first one they called was on Steve Kerr and I said, ‘Well it’s right here on the sheet.’ The scorer’s table people said the same thing, but evidently he said, ‘No, it was on Steve Ker, the first one,’ so that was the explanation.”

Kerr said nearly the same thing as Lue – that he didn’t know exactly what was going on until it was explained to him – while adding that he thought the first tech should’ve been called on him.

Green commented on all of this as well.

Additionally, both Green and Kerr joked about Green being suspended for Game 5 (if you need a refresher of how he got suspended in the Finals last year, please read this).

Game 5 is on Monday in Oakland.
