Golden State Warriors consultant and Basketball Hall of Famer Jerry West will be taking a similar role with the Los Angeles Clippers, Sports Illustrated reported.

Warriors owner Joe Lacob confirmed that West would be departing the team in a statement.

The news comes just two days after the Warriors won their second NBA title in three seasons. West joined the club, where he served as an Executive Board Member, in 2011.

West, 79, was a legendary player for the Los Angeles Lakers, and he found equally great success as an executive with the team in building the Lakers’ dynasty in the 1980s. He also brought Shaquille O’Neal and Kobe Bryant to Los Angeles prior to his departure. West also was GM of the Memphis Grizzlies.
