Authorities reopened the westbound lanes on Interstate 10 just after 6 a.m. Wednesday morning following a fatal collision involving a semi-truck.
It happened just before 4 a.m., according to Arizona Department of Transportation, on the westbound I-10 lanes just west of 51st Avenue.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety said a truck and a semi-truck collided.
The pick-up driver died at the scene, according to DPS. The cause of the accident has not been determined as of 6:30 a.m. and is still under investigation, a spokesman for DPS said.
Traffic was backed up on the I-10 in both directions while crews worked to clear the scene. Westbound traffic was prompted to exit at 51st Avenue and allowed back on at 59th Avenue.
