Officials are looking for a driver involved in a central Phoenix hit-and-run that killed a man on Friday morning, the Phoenix Police Department said.

Police said Michael Danko, 82, was crossing the street near Central Avenue and Osborn Road just before 10 a.m. Friday when a vehicle struck him before fleeing the scene.

The man was taken to a hospital with critical injuries and later died, police Sgt. Mercedes Fortune said.

Witnesses described the vehicle as a 2013 or 2014 white Chrysler 200 with front-end damage on the passenger side, Fortune said.

Detectives found a photo taken as the vehicle was leaving the scene and ask anyone with information to contact Phoenix police at 602-262-6151.

Southbound lanes on Central Avenue were closed at Osborn Road as officers investigated but were reopened later. The light rail was not affected.
