Now in its second year, ACE Comic Con again hits the Valley with an all-star A-list cast of celebrities. If you’re planning to meet Tom Hiddleston, Michael Fassbender or David Tennent, here’s what you should know before you go.
When is ACE Comic Con?
The three-day event in Glendale runs Jan. 11-13. 4-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.
Where the Gila River Arena?
ACE Comic Con takes place at the West Valley hockey arena, located at 9400 W. Maryland Ave., Glendale.
What does a ticket cost?
All tickets must be purchased online as there’s no operating box office at the arena. Be sure to factor in other costs like parking ($10 to $35, depending on the lot) and consider if a VIP package is right for you. Here’s a breakdown of the base prices:
- General admission: $65 Friday; $75 Saturday and Sunday ($5 off for kids 10 and younger; limit two per adult ticket).
- Weekend pass: $125 ($10 off for kids).
It’s a varied mix of Marvel Cinematic Universe actors, a former “Dr. Who,” a “Kingsman” and several WWE Superstars. The guest list includes: Tom Hiddleston (Loki in Marvel’s “Avengers” movies), Michael Fassbender (young Magneto in “X-Men”), David Tennant (“Dr. Who”), Krysten Ritter (“Jessica Jones”), Charlie Cox (“Daredevil”), Taron Egerton (“Kingsman”), Tye Sheridan (“X-Men’s” Cyclops), Alexandra Shipp (“X-Men’s” Storm), and three WWE superstars, Becky Lynch, Alexa Bliss and Lilian Garcia.
What’s VIP like?
If you’re willing to throw out some extra cash, there are celebrity-specific, three-day VIP packages available which include a photo-op, exclusive swag and special times. For instance, the Tom Hiddleston VIP experience includes two guaranteed spots during a Q&A panel, an authenticated autograph and a photo with the “Thor” actor for the price of $645.
What can I do at ACE?
From panels about upcoming films like “X-Men: Dark Phoenix” to trivia and interviews, there’s a lot to see. For a complete schedule and FAQ, visit aceuniverse.com.
How can I get a photo without VIP tickets?
You can purchase a photo shoot with a headliner online. The prices range from $45 with the WWE’s Garcia to $225 for Hiddleston. Keep in mind that specific poses may not be possible because of time constraints and be aware that there’s going to be a line of people who want a shot just like you.
Hugs and handshakes are usually allowed; kissing, groping and fondling are prohibited. If you have a specific pose request, please email [email protected] before the event. For more information on the do’s and don’t’s of this activity, check out celebphotoops.com/ace.
What can I bring with my costume?
Only replica weapons made from foam or plastic are allowed in the arena and attendees are asked to keep their attire family friendly. Feel lame without your sword? No problem — there’s a cosplay zone where you can borrow professionally made props for selfies.
