A four-day-long crime spree involving 34-year-old Guillermo Reyes came to an end on Friday thanks to Mesa and Chandler police.

Reyes is suspected of using a knife and a gun to rob 12 victims for six vehicles, clothes, food and credit cards.

Reyes faces 19 felony charges and his arrest closed six open cases, the Mesa Police Department said in a release on Monday.

At approximately 1:30 a.m.on Friday, Reyes surrendered to Chandler Police’s SWAT team after barricading himself in his hotel room, according to police.

Spree includes shooting, robberies at restaurants, homes

Reyes’ spree began on Sept. 29, when he is suspected of firing at least 12 rounds at two victims outside Diamond’s Sports Grille in Mesa. The victims suffered minor injuries and did not know what caused Reyes to open fire, Mesa police said.

Witnesses at the scene said they saw Reyes wearing a blue Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap as he fled in a black Cadillac Escalade.

Later that day, Reyes is suspected of robbing a third victim at gunpoint before he took off in the victim’s purple Mercedes-Benz C320. The robbery occurred at a home near Mesa Drive and Brown Road, where police found the black Cadillac Escalade abandoned.

As police filed a stolen vehicle report, three more victims reported Reyes had attempted to rob them at gunpoint. Reyes reportedly approached the three in a parking lot where he attempted to steal a Ford Escape that they were working on.

When told that the vehicle would not start, Reyes walked away and fled in the Mercedes, Mesa police said.

At around 8:11 p.m. Reyes is suspected of robbing an employee at Tom’s BBQ at knifepoint.

Later that night, police found the stolen Mercedes-Benz abandoned at the intersection of Guadalupe Road and Springwood Boulevard in Mesa. The fuel tank was empty and police found empty food containers from Tom’s BBQ and traces of Reyes’ fingerprints inside the car.

Reyes is suspected of robbing a ninth victim and taking their GMC Sierra pickup truck on Oct. 1 in Mesa. However, Reyes was unaware that a backpack he had placed in the bed of the truck would fall through a hole, revealing the blue Los Angeles Dodgers baseball cap stored inside.

Police matched fingerprints to Reyes from the GMC Sierra, which was found abandoned in Chandler the next day.

Shortly after, Reyes is suspected of robbing a man on the street at gunpoint, forcing the victim into his home to take off his clothes so he could put them on, Mesa police said, before taking his blue Ford Mustang.

Police say Reyes would go on to steal an eleventh victim’s Jeep Grand Cherokee later that day and flee to Mesa, abandon it, and robbed the 12th victim at gunpoint, stealing their Infiniti Q40.

Police found the Infiniti Q40 at Tempe Marketplace on Oct. 4., and inside the vehicle located Reyes’ fingerprints and a camouflage shirt that he had stolen from one of the previous victims.

A victim also reported Reyes had stolen and used credit cards.

Police find Reyes in Chandler hotel

Reyes was finally located by Chandler and Mesa police in his Chandler hotel room around 11 p.m. on Oct. 8. After barricading himself in the room for several hours, Reyes surrendered to the Chandler Police SWAT team at approximately 1:30 a.m. Oct. 9.

A search warrant was issued on Reyes’ room where police found a handgun loaded with ammunition that matched a round found at the first shooting a Diamond’s Sports Grille.

Reyes was booked into Mesa City Jail and charged with 19 felonies including armed robbery, burglary, kidnapping and theft.

“Mesa Police want to thank all the extremely observant victims and witnesses, the meticulous Crime Scene Specialists, and especially the Chandler Police Department for helping us arrest a tremendously violent offender,” said the Mesa Police Department in a statement.
