Visitors planning to attend President Donald Trump’s rally Friday at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport should leave their flagpoles and sticks at home, say Mesa police.
Those were among the list of items police said spectators cannot bring with them.
The private venue will open at 2:30 p.m., and visitors will be allowed to attend outside the ticketed event, which has limited spaces, if they follow the venue’s rules, according to a statement from Detective Steve Berry, a spokesman for Mesa Police Department.
Spectators will not be allowed to bring deadly weapons or dangerous instruments, which include knives, baseball bats, glass containers, sticks, flagpoles and firearms, according to the statement.
Trump’s MAGA Rally is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. at International Air Response, at Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport.

Mesa police said their mission is to ensure security and safety for all in attendance at the event, and that includes the right of free speech.
“Areas have been designated for attendees to express their rights to free speech; however, no criminal or assaultive behavior will be tolerated,” according to the statement from Berry.
Police also expressed a concern about terrorism and reminded attendees that “if you see something, say something.”
As for details about traffic, closures and other event information, Mesa police suggest attendees follow on Twitter, @MesaPD, and Facebook, @MesaAZPD.
